Not just an end table — a hand-carved wood statue that happens to hold a lamp. Haussmann's Original Twist begins as a single column of solid monkeypod timber and is carved by hand into one clean rising spiral. No two are ever the same, because no two trees are ever the same. Each piece is carved from a solid wood block rather than assembled from laminated boards. Natural grain, checks, knots and tool marks give each table its own character; wood glue mixed with sawdust can be used in the fixing process.
The grain and tool marks tell the story of real wood. This is solid monkeypod, not veneer or a kit. Natural cracks, mineral streaks and knots can vary from piece to piece. Hand-finishing with Osmo Wood Wax Oil highlights the wood's character. This is the piece you point to and say "that's one of a kind."
The wood: Solid monkeypod — Samanea saman, of the Fabaceae (bean) family. Sold in the US as acacia, known in Thailand as Mai Jumjaree, and elsewhere as rain tree or koa. Kiln-dried and hand-carved by Haussmann's artisans in Thailand.
Where it lives: Beside a sofa or accent chair in the living room, at the bedside as a one-of-a-kind nightstand alternative, in an entry or hallway as a plinth for a lamp or bowl, or anywhere a room needs one confident visual anchor.

Common questions
Is this real solid wood, not a veneer or kit? Yes — hand-carved from a solid block of monkeypod, not veneer or laminate. Wood glue mixed with sawdust may be used in the fixing process.
Will the color match the photos exactly? Close, but not identical: the Walnut Oil color coat is translucent, so each block's underlying natural wood tone influences its finished shade.
Are checks and knots defects? They are natural characteristics of solid wood. Checks, knots, and grain marks vary from piece to piece; some areas may be repaired in the fixing process.
Haussmann has been hand-carving solid wood furniture in Thailand since 2008, with roughly 1,700 five-star reviews from buyers who wanted a piece with real character.
